Pomp for some

Yesterday, I attended a graduation ceremony for a small teaching college. But the robes, the mace, the procession, and the honors all made me wonder: Why do these left-wing, Birkenstock-wearing, sodomy-loving liberals in universities tolerate a ceremony so deeply hierarchical and aesthetically traditional?

But then I remembered why. Because the professors and the college itself are what are being glorified. But others, with a greater claim to honor, like the military, the few remaining Western monarchs, or the Church, have to pare down their grandeur.
